With the UK's summers gradually heating up year on year we're all looking for the best way to stay cool - some people in our office more than others!!

Thank goodness for the luxury of air-conditioning - Sam really spoils us here! Still no update on the fancy coffee machine though...

The sunshine's great, but not when it turns your space into a sauna! Want to beat the heat this summer? Your secret weapon is simple: keep your curtains and blinds CLOSED during the day, especially on windows facing the sun.

Why It Works:

  • Block the Burn: Your curtains and blinds act like a super shield, stopping unwanted solar heat from turning your room into a greenhouse.

  • Fabric Power: This is where Philip Cowan Interiors excels - I know, we just keep on getting better!

    • Blackout curtains and thermal curtains are your ultimate heat-blocking superheroes. Our roller blinds and Roman blinds with blackout linings are fantastic too!

    • Light-coloured or reflective-backed curtains and blinds are top-notch at bouncing sunlight away.

    • Thicker, denser fabrics (think our quality contract curtains and robust commercial blinds) naturally offer better insulation.

    • A good lining is always key for maximum cool!

  • Perfect Fit: For optimal effectiveness, ensure your curtains or blinds cover the entire window to prevent any sneaky heat from creeping in. This is where our expert measuring and installation skills really come into their own!

Night Moves:

Once the sun sets and the outside air cools down, that's your cue! Open those windows and curtains and blinds wide to let the refreshing night breeze circulate.

So, when the temperature rises in the UK, remember: smart window treatments are your best bet for keeping cool and comfortable!
